The World Wide Flood
Introduction:
1. Similar stories have been among people all over the world (Romans, Babylonians, gypsies, Mongols, Africans, Australian Aborigines, Hindus, Polynesians, and Native Americans.
2. Dr. Richard Andree recorded 88 flood histories alone.
Body:
I. Inland Seas
1. Examples are Han Hai in China, inland basin of India, and the basin of Tibet.
2. In the U.S. remains (The Great Salt Lake & Bonneville) of inland salt seas show the world was covered over with sea water.
II. Polystrata Tree Trunks and Sedimentary Rocks.
1. Tree trunks have been found around the world that were covered with water laid sediment that became rock
2. If this had taken millions of years for the layers (strata) to be deposited the upper parts of the trees would be rotted away before the upper strata were deposited.
III. Fossils
1. Forests were compressed by waves and layer of deposits forming coal.
2. Coal is found on every continent even Antarctica and near the north pole.
3. Vast amounts of animals and fish were buried before they had time to rot.
IV. The Biblical Record
1. The History of the flood is contained in Gen. 6-8
2. Jesus spoke of the flood in connection with his return on the day of judgment. Mt. 24:37-39
3. Peter: II Pet 3:5-7, 9-10, I Pet. 3:20-22
Conclusion:
1. History show there was a flood that covered the entire earth yet another evidence the Bible is from God.
